Equal Education “is a movement campaigning for better schools and greater equality within the South African education system. Led by young activists, Equal Education seeks to improve the quality of education in South Africa”. See this profile for more information.
Equal Education are currently undertaking a “social audit” of township and rural schools all over the Western Cape. They are training community members, parents and learners to use an audit form to record and monitor infrastructural conditions in schools. The two major focus points are issues of safety and sanitation faced by learners.
How can you help?
If we can get together a group of volunteers Equal Education will send us a team to provide the necessary training and materials. The training will take around 3-4 hours. We can then go out into schools to conduct the audits (audit forms and a letter for principals is attached below to give you a better idea of what is involved).
