The senior youth group of Bellville and the Confirmation group of DMC journeyed up to the top of Bainskloof for the combined Youth Alpha and Confirmation Camp of 2015.
Situated in the heart of a nature reserve, surrounded by majestic mountains and God’s glory evident in nature, there were great expectations that God would bless the weekend and that each young person would encounter God and that He would meet them at their place of need.
There were great times of fellowship, as a group of strangers became friends; fun as the campers enjoyed games and a hike led by Sean. There were times of ministry, worship, bonding and a space for an encounter with God where each person could spend time in prayer with God. Mentors that were part of the confirmation program came through to join the campers during the weekend. The campers enjoyed group time and sessions learning more about the Holy Spirit.
For many, the camp was a highlight of the journey to Confirmation that they have been on for the year, and this was seen in the Confirmation Testimony evening.
Some thoughts from our campers:
Although we got lost on the hike, we still had a great time and I loved the fact that the boys were helping the girls during the hike. – Sherrilyn
One thing I loved about the camp is that we managed to gather a bunch of strangers who became united and built many new friendships. There was no judgement, only joy and excitement to learn more about God – Paige
We didn’t know each other in the beginning, but after confirmation camp we all became friends – Teegan
