We tend to think that we only encounter Jesus through the Holy Spirit’s power in “unseen” ways. Our closest “material” connection is through the bread and wine at Holy Communion.
However, there is a ‘flesh and blood’ meeting we too easily overlook. Jesus said “whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me” (Mt 25:40). He said to the Disciples “whoever receives you receives me” (Mt. 10:40). Offering hospitality to those Jesus sends is to receive Jesus Himself!
In the Kingdom of Heaven two simple acts have great power: “The graciousness to host and the humility to be a guest.” In the simple exercise of hospitality God is made known.
At our 09:30 service we have the opportunity to be hosts. Our Korean friends, who usually worship in Korean after the 09:30 service, join us for the Lord’s Supper. A visiting Korean Mission Team accompanies them. They will present the Gospel through drama after the benediction. If you are worshiping at 09:30 you are invited to remain in the Sanctuary for a few minutes – for in receiving them we will host Jesus himself!
