We believe that a number of people come to church with a ‘bucket of tears’ or wondering how long must they wrestle with their aching thoughts and experience every day some form of sorrow in their hearts. There is no need to suffer alone.

Psalm 13 vs2

How long Lord, must I wrestle with my thoughts
and day after day have sorrow in my heart?
How long will my enemy triumph over me?

The reality of life is that we will all experience challenging seasons with life changes, broken individuals and families, hurts, sadness, struggles, grieving, emotional, spiritual, abuse, financial, depression and many others.

At some time or another, everyone needs a little help. Our church’s care and counselling teams are available to offer support and general counselling to youth, adults, couples and families in a confidential and non-judgemental manner.

There aren’t any quick-fixes for deep emotional wounds and complex relational problems. All these “hurts” and issues mentioned above can have a huge impact on our lives. God knows what they are going through, what is yet to come and we will support them to have an encounter with God. That encounter will make a difference in some way. For some, it will set them thinking, for others it brings strength, others receive healing and for some it is a welcome home.

DMC’s Care & Counselling Centre is here to listen, guide and heal. People that feel troubled and hurt can come forward for help and will be placed in good professional hands for healing and to be loved. Our team of trained volunteer counsellors adhere to their Code of Ethics. They work alongside professionals and in some cases we may mutually agree to refer a client.

Sessions take place in private and comfortable rooms where every effort is made to treat people with dignity and respect.

We are not a crisis or trauma centre, but recognise that emergencies do arise. Where we are in a position to assist, we will do our best to accommodate those counselling needs.

We will also be offering courses next year on topics such as Marriage Preparation, Parenting children, Building a healthy marriage, Setting boundaries, Anxiety, Anger management etc. These will be advertised in the Sunday church bulletins and on this website.

So, if you need help then please contact our Minister, Sean McGuigan at the Durbanville Methodist Church
