Confirmation often forms a vital part of the spiritual journey of a young person, and traditionally it happens at about the age of 16. Here at Durbanville Methodist Church, we believe that you should do confirmation when you feel you are spiritually ready to take that next step, to fulfil the promises made on your behalf at your baptism.
Confirmation at DMC
The confirmation process that we follow at DMC consists of pairing each young person who expresses a desire to be confirmed with an older member of our congregation, known as a “mentor”. They then meet together to work through a guidebook, with questions on the major basic topics of Christianity, as well as working through the gospel of Luke. The confirmation process is overseen by the Youth Pastor and the Minister.
There are also various group sessions that are held to debate topics and for the young people to get together and spend time with each other.

Upcoming events for the Confirmation Group
- The Confirmation Camp will take place this year from the 4th to the 6th of September, at Bainskloof in Franschhoek.
- Testimony evening is Wednesday 9 September at 7 pm
- Confirmation service is Sunday 13 September at 6:30 pm
