When leaders at DMC have prayerfully reflected on God’s will for us two images have been prominent[1]:
(1) A bustling, hospitable village united by the Gospel story. In a village the young are celebrated and the wisdom of the elders is treasured. We yearn for a sense of community and belonging. We long to live out our calling to be Fellow Citizens in God’s Household (Eph. 2:19).
(2) A beautiful, fruitful tree providing shade and shelter. The “tree” speaks to us of “Fruit of the Spirit” and “leaves for the healing of the nations”. The tree has deep roots; it is anchored in the love of Father, Son and Holy Spirit. God is at work to grow fruitful disciples who have depth.
On Ash Wednesday our Annual Society Meeting expressed these yearnings in the following objectives. God is calling us to:
- Deeper Spirituality and Discipleship
- Deeper Relationships with One Another
- Deeper Engagement with our Community
Our Lenten Series, Rooted: Growing Deeper, Growing Together, Growing Up is a good place to start. Paul’s letter to the Ephesians will help us grow deeper in knowing God’s love, understanding God’s plan and living out God’s call.
