Holy Communion – Sunday, 07 February, 2020
This Sunday we will consecrate the elements during our live Facebook service at 09h00. You will be invited to the “table” as if you were physically present. We will then distribute the body and blood of Christ via our “drive through” pattern from 10h15 – 11h00. (The congregation drive to church and are served in their vehicles. You can choose to return home or remain in the church grounds to share in the Lord’s Supper).
Most Sundays about 10 to 15 people tune in to Facebook for the “live” service. Around 80 to 150 folk engage later in the day. However, this Sunday, we encourage those who use Facebook to make every effort to join us live at 09:00 and, if possible, to come to the (drive-through) Table from 10:15.
We will of course also provide a printed liturgy for use by those unable to watch the Facebook service so that they can prepare to meaningfully share in the Sacrament. (Those who share the Lord’s Supper do so in the same way as receive Holy Communion set aside on Sundays for those unable to attend church. The difference now being that we are all “shut-in”).
In these days when we are separated physically I find it encouraging to remember that “we who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually we are members one of another” (Ro 12:5). Our unity is in Christ through the Spirit and nothing on heaven or earth, neither pandemic nor isolation, can divide that which has been united by the blood of Christ shed on the cross.
