MINISTER’S NOTE 16 May 2021
Today, we are on the third day since Ascension Day
and on the 7th day before Pentecost. We are in the
period during which Jesus had given his disciples
instructions to wait in Jerusalem for the day when
they will be “clothed with power from on
high” (Luke 24: 49).
Waiting is not something human beings do easily.
However, we know that not everything can be
rushed without putting it in danger. For example,
we wait for the baby to fully develop before birth in
order to avoid endangering the baby’s life.
Waiting is also an important element of our journey
of faith. It is a spiritual discipline that every follower
of Jesus Christ should cultivate. It creates time during
which we can trust God. As we wait for Pentecost,
I encourage you to intentionally make every
effort to expand your capacity to wait, as it will
strengthen you for the days ahead.
Waiting for God is not easy as it often seems that
God does not understand the urgency of our situation
or is not answering our prayers. However, it is in
our waiting that faith is activated and strengthened.
It is in the waiting that our hope becomes an
expectation. God uses our waiting to refresh, renew
and teach us. Therefore, “Wait for the Lord; be
strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for
the Lord! (Psalm 27: 14).
