MINISTER’S NOTE 5 SEPTEMBER 2021
The Christian community across the world observes
the “Season of Creation”, between the 1st September
and the 4th October. This is the time of the year
during which we are invited to pray together for our
common home, the earth, and renew our relationship
with our Creator and all creation. As the Psalmist
proclaims in Psalm 24 verse 1, “The earth is the
Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who
live in it”, together with every creature, humanity
belongs to the earth community, and the earth
community belongs to God.
As a community we are inter-connected and our
well-being and that of the earth depends on us remembering
that the Creator has given us a special
vocation to be stewards of the earth and the earth
community. Clearly, humanity has put our home
and her inhabitants under threat because of the
economic and political choices that are motivated
by greed, exploitation, disrespect, disconnection
and systematic degradation.
I invite you during this season of creation to be intentional
about giving attention to God as the Creator
of our home, the earth, and the entire earth
community. Let us remind one another that we belong
to God’s beloved interconnected community
that lives in the household of God.
I also encourage you to take action for creation
and adopt a way of life that reflects that you join
the Psalmist in remembering that we are not stewards
of a lifeless creation, but of a dynamic and
living beloved community of creation that belongs
to God.
