MINISTER’S NOTE 24 APRIL 2022
The Easter season invites us to reflect on our own
resurrection experience. I believe this is very needed
during this season of our lives when the world we
knew is changing in different ways. It is an opportunity
to empower and equip every follower of Jesus
Christ to dive into the deep, vibrant and meaningful
life we long for. When the pandemic started,
many believed that it was time for resetting and
that there is a new normal ahead of us. The question
you might be asking is how do we equip ourselves
for this new life?
One of the well-known characters in the resurrection
stories is Thomas, a disciple of Jesus Christ.
Whilst he is labelled “the doubting Thomas”, I believe
he also has a profound lesson to teach us.
Thomas refused to accept the news of Jesus’ resurrection
not because he doubted, but because he
knew that he needed a first-hand experience of
the resurrection that he could own. It was important
to him not to conform, but to stay true to himself
and to do it his own way. Thomas was being authentic.
This season of our life demands that we don’t lose
ourselves and live a life that is not ours, but to be
our authentic selves even in times of uncertainty
and struggle and when we express compassion
and generosity. We can only express our unique
gifts, values, perspectives, and ways of being when
we live our fully authentic lives.
