MINISTER’S NOTE 3 JULY 2022

It was Jean Vanier, I think, in one of his books who
wrote some 20 or 30 years ago, ”Either we will receive
the Spirit of Jesus into our hearts and become
like never before men and women of prayer, mercy
and peace, real followers of Jesus; or else everything
will disappear in chaos. Today is the moment
of Jesus”.

Those of you that know me well will know that one
of my special areas of interest in a life of ministry has
been the Life of Prayer. My interest has always
been focused not so much on the “traditional “
forms of prayer i.e. Petition, Intercession, Confession
etc. but rather on the “practice” of prayer in the life
of Jesus and the early Church that led to their actions
in ministry in their broken world, in order to try
and understand the basic principles and practice
of prayer that will empower the Church in our generation,
to be more effective in ministry as we face
the brokenness of our world and our call to be a
people of the Spirit today.

And so my invitation to you is to come and share in
our reflection on “Prayer in the Spirit – Basics of
Transforming prayer” from our reading, Acts 4:23-31
on Sunday and to share in the moment of fresh surrender
and renewed commitment as we share
Communion together. See you on Sunday!

Blessings,
David.
