MINISTER’S NOTE 7 AUGUST 2022
This month we take time to pause and reflect on
the resilience and inner strength of women from all
walks of life who have a long history of oppression.
As we celebrate women’s achievements, we are
also aware that we are still very far from a gender
equal world. We are therefore urged to take action
for a world free of bias, stereotypes and discrimination;
a world that’s diverse, equitable, and inclusive;
a world where difference is valued and celebrated.
The well-know verse from the book of Esther (4:14)
“who knows but that you have come to royal position
for such a time as this?”, reminds us that God
has plans and has a purpose for each person. We
cannot be content with being silent and shaking
our heads at the direction our country is headed.
We cannot be content with doing nothing as witnesses
for Christ. Paul says God did not give us a
spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of
self-discipline (2 Timothy 1:7). Therefore, it is not an
accident that you and I live in this era. We are invited
to imagine a world where women and men
work side by side in partnership for a world of possibilities
for all.
God challenges us to make a real difference in the
world, not only for ourselves, but also in the lives of
those around us. Esther invites us to boldness and to
be willing to make sacrifices.
Be bold, be strong, for the Lord God is with you!
