MINISTER’S NOTE 23 OCTOBER 2022
Have you ever wondered what Jesus means when
he says “I have come that they might have life and
have it abundantly” (John 10:10)? The abundant
life does not consist of an abundance of material
things. Jesus comes that people may have life in
him that is meaningful, purposeful, joyful, and eternal.
This is an invitation to a new way of living in the
world with Christ’s real presence, embracing the
good and the bad that comes our way, whilst we
find the joy in living fully. This life would wear us out if
we tried to do it on our own, but the good news is,
we have a companion in Christ.
The abundant life brings change, challenges status
quo, works for justice and equality, and threatens
power and privilege. Each one has his or her own
calling in this regard. If you haven’t committed to a
cause or a vocation, perhaps now is the time to ask
yourself “What will I give my life to?”
The key is to be faithful in the stewardship of the life
God has called us to. There may be times when
you feel like you have pulled up short on what you
should have done. Sometimes life is so ordinary that
God seems to be out of the picture. In all of these
times we are urged to stay the course and remain
faithful to Christ. When you evaluate your life, don’t
be hung up on your mistakes or performance, but
rather look to the purpose which God has set before
you.
Blessings,
Vuyelwa.
