MINISTER’S NOTE 6 NOVEMBER 2022
Today is such a joyful day as we celebrate the confirmation
of some of the young members of the
DMC family. A personal decision was made by
these young people to publicly affirm their faith in
Christ as they confirm the baptismal promises that
were made by their parents. This day also creates
an opportunity for us to reflect on our own journey
of faith as we remember our baptism and the
promises we made during our confirmation.
Confirmation is not simply a “rite of passage’, but
an important part of our journey of faith. It is the
time when one takes ownership of their faith and
decides if they are ready to make a public commitment
to love God, follow Christ, participate in the
life of the church, and join in God’s missional work
in the world. It is a step in a life-long journey of pursuing
the heights, depths, and widths of God’s love
by making a vow to live in relationship with God for
the rest of our lives. We take responsibility for living
as a member of the body of Christ and for fulfilling
God’s purposes and we create a foundation for a
lifetime of discipleship.
It has been a joy and a blessing to journey with
each confirmand. I pray that we continue to surround
them with love and help them discover what
it means to be a disciple of Christ. I look forward to
experiencing how God will shape our faith and
community together.
Shalom,
Vuyelwa.
