Who doesn’t enjoy being in his or her own zone of
comfort? Our comfort zones give us a sense of safety
and there is nothing wrong with them. However,
comfort zones can also keep us from our potential,
and there is more in life to experience. It takes a
leap of faith in God to step outside our comfort
zones. Sometimes God uses extraordinary situations
to move us, like what happened to the first disciples
as they experienced the resurrection of Christ.
The disciples drew comfort from Jesus’ physical
presence with them so much that the trauma of the
crucifixion blinded them to the joy of resurrection. It
is the risen Christ who prodded them and continues
to prod us so that our eyes may be opened, that we
may have the capacity to see signs of resurrection
and have the ability to recognize the Lord of the
resurrection who is walking alongside and talking
with us.
Whilst Christ prods us out of our comfort zones, he
never leaves us without comfort, support and companionship,
regardless of what our current circumstance
might be. At times we may be so overwhelmed
by our past and present that we are incapable
to grasp the help which is at hand. There is
nothing to fear when we are in God’s presence and
care. We are reassured of strength for the road and
guidance on the way. Take courage.
