MINISTER’S NOTE 21 JANUARY 2024
It’s a new year, we hope for better days, we start
anew and look forward to the future. As we renew
the covenant God has made with us, may the
good news of the covenant shape and focus everything
about us this year and beyond.
It is mind-boggling why God in his greatness and
holiness would care to make a covenant with fallible
human beings. It’s all about love: God’s love for
us, our love for God and the love we share with one
another, creating a more wholesome and hopeful
world. God’s covenant with people means all people
matter to God. We are not lost in the mess of
the world; we belong to God’s care and to God’s
purposes. Our life, joys and worries, are all wrapped
in God. We are invited to give our hearts to the
things that matter. Our world has so many problems
and Christ invites us to walk with him, imagining and
re-constructing a world that aligns with God’s goodness
and hopes. We are called to rise up and stand
up for that which is loving, that which is kind, that
which is compassionate, and that which is just, merciful,
and humane.
May you not lose sight of the good news that your
life and my life are rooted in God’s life, a life that
provides light and hope for our lives and our world
no matter what difficulty might come our way. Stay
rooted and grounded in the love of God.
