Welcome to the Lenten Season – 2025
From time to time, we find ourselves living in
the tension between faith and works – between
trusting in God’s grace and
responding with lives of faithful action. Our
theme, Everything in Between: Meeting
God in the Midst of Extremes, reminds us that God is present
not only in moments of deep faith but also in the daily
work of living that faith out.
James reminds us, “Faith by itself, if it is not accompanied
by action, is dead” (James 2:17). Yet Paul declares, “By
grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not
your own doing; it is the gift of God” (Ephesians 2:8). These
two truths do not stand in opposition but invite us into the
sacred space in between – where faith moves us to action,
and our actions become an expression of our trust in
God.
Lent calls us to reflect: How do we embody our faith? Do
our works reflect the love and justice of Christ? In prayer,
in service, in acts of kindness and justice, we meet God –
not at one extreme or the other, but in the in-between
spaces of our daily lives.
May this season draw us closer to Christ, shaping us into
people whose faith is alive, whose works are love in action,
and whose lives bear witness to the God who meets
us in every moment.
