TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD – in the Wilderness
We began this week with ashes – with the honest reminder
that we are dust, and that we belong to God. Now the
journey continues. Lent is not a season of gloom, but a
season of truth. For forty days we walk with Jesus, allowing
God to search our hearts, renew our spirits, and prepare
us for resurrection hope.
Our Lenten theme this year is simple and heartfelt: “Tell
Me Something Good.” It is a question that rises naturally in
uncertain times in our personal lives, in our country, and
in our world. Throughout this season, we will listen carefully
for the good news woven through Scripture, giving
steady hope.
Today’s theme reminds us that even in the wilderness,
there is good news. The First Sunday in Lent takes us into
the wilderness with Jesus – a place of testing, vulnerability,
and temptation. Yet the wilderness is not abandonment.
It is a place where identity is clarified and trust is strengthened.
It is a place where God is present.
If you find yourself in a wilderness season feeling
stretched, uncertain, or tired – take heart. You are not
alone. Christ walks there too.
As we continue this Lenten journey, may we discover that
even in difficult places, God is already at work – and that
is something good.
