MINISTER’S NOTE 24 MAY 2026
Today we remember that the coming of the Holy Spirit
was not simply a dramatic moment in the life of the early
church, it was the beginning of a movement. Fearful disciples
were interrupted by the presence of God and sent
out into the world with courage, compassion, and purpose.
Our theme today, Interrupted into Motion, reminds
us that the Holy Spirit still works in this way. The Spirit interrupts
comfortable faith, awakens us from complacency,
and moves us beyond ourselves toward the common
good, as God continues to work in us and through us today.
Pentecost also reminds us of something deeply comforting:
we do not journey through life alone. God’s Spirit is
still present in the ordinary moments of everyday life — in
our worries and weariness, in our work and responsibilities,
in our griefs and hopes. The Spirit comes alongside us with
strength when we feel weak, peace when we feel overwhelmed,
and courage when the road ahead feels uncertain.
Perhaps the question for us this Pentecost is the same
question asked by the crowd in Acts:
“What does this mean?”
May we hear God’s answer not only in words, but in the
quiet assurance that the Spirit is with us still – guiding, renewing,
and gently interrupting us into lives that bring
hope and blessing to the world.
