MINISTER’S NOTE 21 JUNE 2026
On this Father’s Day, we gather with joy to celebrate the
baptism of a child, to give thanks for the gift of family,
and to worship the God whose love embraces us all. In
baptism, we witness something beautiful and profound.
Water is poured, promises are made, and a child is welcomed
into the family of faith. Yet baptism is not only
about the child at the font. It is also an invitation for each
of us to remember our own story.
When Jesus was baptized, a voice from heaven declared,
“This is my Son, the Beloved, with whom I am well
pleased.” Before Jesus had preached a sermon, performed
a miracle, or fulfilled his ministry, he was named
and claimed as God’s beloved child. The same grace is
reflected in baptism. It reminds us that our identity is not
rooted in what we achieve, possess, or accomplish, but
in God’s unwavering love for us. We belong to God before
we do anything to earn that belonging. God’s welcome
knows no boundaries. God’s love extends beyond
the limits we often create and reaches out to all people
with grace and compassion.
As we gather around the waters of baptism, may you
hear again God’s invitation, remember God’s promises,
and be encouraged by the assurance that you are
loved, known, and held by God.
May this day help us all remember whose we are.
