MINISTER’S NOTE 5 JULY 2026
Today we begin a journey through the seven letters in the
book of Revelation, reflecting on what Christ says are the
marks of a healthy Church. Although these letters were
written to churches nearly two thousand years ago, they
continue to speak with remarkable clarity to the Church
today. They invite us to pause, to listen carefully to what
the Holy Spirit is saying, and to consider how God is calling
us to grow.
Our first stop is the church in Ephesus – a church that was
faithful, hardworking, and discerning. Yet Jesus lovingly
pointed out something important: they had drifted from
their first love. Their commitment remained, but the
warmth of their relationship with Christ had grown cold.
Perhaps many of us can relate. Life becomes busy. Responsibilities
multiply. We continue to serve, attend worship,
and fulfil our commitments, yet our hearts can quietly
lose the joy and wonder of simply loving God.
The good news is that Christ’s words to Ephesus are not
words of rejection but of invitation. He calls His people to
remember, to return, and to renew their relationship with
Him. His desire is not merely that we do the right things,
but that everything we do flows from a deep and growing
love for Him.
As we gather, may we come with open hearts, willing to
listen, reflect, and respond. May this be an opportunity to
rediscover the joy of walking closely with Christ and to
renew our love for the One who first loved us.
